Board Members

Being a parent-participation school, parents bring a lot to Washington Open. The Parent Board helps coordinate the numerous parent volunteer activities and helps raise funds to support unique programs at our school. The Washington Open Parent Faculty Group is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Each position filled by a parent keeps our school strong and running smoothly! Whatever your strengths and talents are, there is probably a need that matches perfectly. Think about what you do well, or what you enjoy doing, and don't hesitate to volunteer. This generous giving of time and talent by the parents is a major factor in what makes our school, and our children, successful!

Board Meetings

The Executive Board of the Washington Open Parent Faculty Group meets once monthly on the second Tuesday in the evenings The time, location, and agenda of the meeting are posted in advance. All the business of the Parent Faculty Group is conducted at these meetings. Every Washington Open parent is welcome to attend the Board Meetings. You may also present an item for the agenda by calling the Board President.

WOPFG - Washington Open Parent Faculty Group

Welcome to the Washington Open Parent Faculty Group

Washington Open Mission: Washington Open is a parent-participation school that nurtures the whole child, offering a collaborative community that allows for a rich variety of hands-on, real-world learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom.  We balance academic, social, physical, and emotional needs, while encouraging creativity, curiosity, and a life-long love of learning.

To help accomplish this mission, each year the Washington Open Parent Faculty Group (WOPFG) coordinates community building events that also raise much-needed funds to support the whole-child learning programs that our integral to the success of our school. Those funds are used to supplement field trip costs, buy classroom supplies for teachers and students, and to support enrichment programs. WOPFG is a non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible.

WOPFG also provides support to volunteers throughout the year in the form of training/learning opportunities, supplies and hosting family events.

The Giving tree has gone virtual! supporting SCUSD Family Resource Center & stand up for Kids

Wrapped Packages

Although so many things are different this year, one thing is not... children & families need support! Washington Open's traditional Giving Tree is going virtual with two options to support organizations with high impact for local youth.

  • Direct support to SCUSD Family Resource Center - please read the attached information. Through the Family Resource Center you can give, in several ways, directly to Santa Clara Unified families. Deadline to deliver gifts or monetary donations is December 8th. Link to the SCUSD Giving Tree details are below.
  • Gift card drive to support Stand Up For Kids (organization in downtown SJ supporting homeless youth ages 12-24). We are collecting gift cards and monetary donations to purchase gift cards for youth to buy food and clothing. Attached is a letter outlining what SUFK needs. Deadline to contribute is December 11th. We will purchase and deliver the gift cards in plenty of time before Christmas and let the WO community know our total donation.
    • You can make a donation through Venmo or Paypal - Any contribution is appreciated!
      • All donations received will be posted via the Wednesday bulletin (once a week), WO Facebook group (at least twice a week) and through class coordinator emails.
      • Details are in the Wednesday Bulletin or you can email
    • If you'd like to contribute physical cards, you are welcome to arrange gift card pick up/drop off by emailing Keep in mind cards need to be received by 12/11.

We will let you know if other opportunities to support come up. Thank you to our amazing community - We make a difference!

Reach out with any questions,

Child Super Hero

"Super ask" donation Drive

WOPFG Super Ask Donation Drive WEBSITE

Even during this unusual year,  WOPFG is using the generous support families provided last year to ensure we can meet the needs of classrooms, teachers and students. Thank you!

As we look to next year, we know our beloved fundraising events are on pause. With that, we are holding a “Super Ask” fundraising drive. This “Super Ask” is in lieu of traditional appeals throughout the year, such as requests for the auction, the Italian dinner, and field trip funds. The money raised through this effort, combined with up to $33,750 from WOPFG reserve funds, will ensure that we can continue to support our classrooms and students at the same levels when we return to a normal academic year in 2021-22.

We hope all families will consider supporting the WOPFG “Super Ask” with a $300 gift (per family) for the year, or at a level that makes sense for you and your family. Additionally, if you know of others who would like to support Washington Open, please share this webpage far and wide. All gifts are tax-deductible.

If you prefer to send a check, please make it out to WOPFG and send to: WOPFG, 270 Washington Street, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
